My New Ride!

I have a new ride!

No, nothing like this. Come on now, is this practical for a soon to be family of 9?

Nope, not this either. This is totally NOT me, and never will be.

This is a little more practical, but still not it.

This is more my speed, and I would love to have one, but my new ride is way cooler.

Are ya ready? First let me just say that I really debated on whether or not to post this, I didn't want anyone to be jealous. But, I felt that you all would want to share in the excitement.

Drum roll please....

This folks is THE TLC Turning Leg Caddy and let me tell ya, it is da bomb! It is fully loaded! It comes with adjustable padded knee rest, can make turns and has handle bar breaks. But wait, there's more! It also comes with a cut ligament in your heel, extreme pain, and the the inability to bear any weight on your foot for 2-4 weeks (hoping for 2). Please forgive me for "gloating," but I just had to share.

Seriously though. If you remember this post, then you probably know what I am talking about. I have/had Plantar Fasciitis and have been dealing with it on and off for the past two years. I have tried cortisone shots, have custom orthotic inserts, a night splint and of course the fashionable boot. None of the above worked and my last option was surgery. I really, really did not want to want to have surgery, but after discussing it with my Dr. we decided it was the best chance I had to get back to some sort of normality with my foot.

So, this morning I said goodbye to this lovely "shoe" (for at least 2-4 weeks)

and had a Plantar Faciotomy. Basically the ligament that runs across my heel did not stretch when I walked which caused extreme pain at time. So, the Dr. cut a notch in the ligament to allow it to stretch. He said everything went fine but that the ligament itself was very thick as well as whatever rests on top of it which could be why it wasn't healing.

I have been feeling pretty good until now. Before the surgery they gave me some sort of block that numbed me from the knee to my toes. Within the hour the block has been wearing off and I am starting to feel some pain in my heel so I will be taking some pain medicine soon, I imagine. From what I have heard from others that have had this surgery it is extremely painful, but so worth it. I am counting on it.

I will stay in this cast for at least 2 weeks, but depending on my healing process it could take up to 4 weeks. After that I will go back into my boot for about a month or two and then back into my tennis shoes. I am just praying that I am back in a regular shoe by the time we go to China. Please pray for a speedy recovery. With 6 kids I am not sure how the whole non weight bearing this is going to go.

Praying for you and hoping you're back on BOTH feet, SOONer rather than later!!

I seen someone else sporting that same "ride" just last weekend when we were in Walmart... first time I've ever seen one of those, but looked like it worked great! Sure beats crutches!

Feel better soon!!

Hugs,
Tanya
